Reasons To Love Dogs

I snapped this photo of my dog, Rudy, this morning as he napped in bed next to me. He's so freakin' adorable. He's actually from a shelter. He was found half-starved, living on the streets. How anybody could abandon this guy is beyond me.

The P52 April Collection by Brine Design

I love the colors in the April Collection by Brine Design. They were perfect for this photo my husband took as he wandered around Las Vegas. I used some of the journaling cards to make a quick and easy mat for the photo. I think this is this first non-Project 52 layout that I've made with this collection.

Digital Collage

I took an art journaling class by Tangie Baxter recently and it inspired me to try digital collage. I made this layout featuring me cuddling on the couch with my 13 year old dog. I had him since he was 4 months old and watching him get older is hard. Strangely enough our new puppy, Mia, reminds me of Blue a great deal. He even likes her. He's only ever liked one puppy before Mia; a foster we had years and years ago when he was 1 1/2 years old.

Project 52: Weeks 10 and 11

I'm still working on my Project 52. It seems like I get within a few weeks of "catching up" and then life intervenes.  Here are weeks 10 & 11; which means I am only 6 weeks behind! Both layouts are made with templates from Brine Designs P52 Collections. I have to say that her collections are making almost staying caught up so much easier. And some of them are more than templates. All that clustering on Week 11 came with the template.

Mia and More Mia (Week 9)

The new puppy, Mia is very photogenic. Week 9 of my project 52 is all about Mia again. Week 9 was the first day of puppy class; unfortunately I was using a camera phone and the puppies were moving fast, so the photos are blurry.

In early March, Mia was running around the yard looking gorgeous; so I pulled out the ultra-zoom. Here's more Mia.

The journaling reads:
Saturday, February 11, 2012
I spent the day cleaning and rearranging the dog room. I've been meaning to do this for a while; we bought the new rug months ago and I've been wanting to be able to use the Wii. We had two 500 vari-kennels underneath the bed and a 450 and a 36 inch Commander in the middle of the room. The room was so crowded with crates that it was unusable. The dogs hardly ever use the crates, so I had decided we didn't need one for each dog set up in the room.  Then Lyn called and offered us Mia. She's gorgeous and square; how could we say no? Mia is coming on Wednesday, so I had to clean up the dog room. Even though a new dog is coming, I decided to go with the plan and bring down the number of crates in the room. I cleaned all the crates and washed all the bedding; threw away the old rug, cleaned the floor and put in the new rug. I nested all the 500s and made one bed and placed the Commander and 450 under the bed. Now we are all ready for the new puppy. We even shampooed the rugs in the living room and kitchen.

And of course, week 8 is all about the new puppy. She got a double layout because I thought the two sets of photos, outdoors and on the armchair were too disparate.

The Plaza in Mesilla, New Mexico

New Mexico is full of old towns and plazas. The most famous are probably those in Albuquerque and Santa Fe, however my favorite plaza has always been the one in Mesilla. We were able to visit the plaza in Mesilla earlier this winter. I got lots of great photos of the dogs while we were there; enough for a double page layout!
